Hello, my climate honey :)

It’s a pleasure to see you again. As I told you in the first article (How to win friends and influence people), this is my year to apply to an international master’s degree program, so I started a journey of reading books in English and sharing what I am learning, with the goal of improving my English language skills.

The dream starts in our minds. I come from Brasilândia, one of the biggest favelas in Brazil, but I have a lot of social advantages that have led me to the place where I can dream: I have lovely parents, a nice house, and the opportunity to study (and I developed a real passion for studying!).

Buuuuut, we need to be realistic: what will happen with the other black girls from favelas that don’t have all of these social advantages?

Some white men who work as coaches love to say that everything is on our minds, we just need to think that we can and all will be fine. Come on my dear reader, I would love it if the world could be this easy, but it’s not so simple.

It’s important to talk about the meritocracy fallacy, and the consequences of slavery, colonization, and racism, painful points that built the structure of the global society. To fight against these points, we need to work in a collective way, influence public politics, make projects, and create collaborative actions with NGOs, governments, and the public sector.

However, if we need to start in some way, how about ourselves? Although this book seems like a simple formula for a rich white man to get richer, I confess that I was able to learn some things from it. I reflected a lot on the first part of the book and I would love to share my musings with you. Hear me out.

Do we have a deal?

I want to start talking about my experience. I am from a middle-class interracial family, but ever since I was a kid, I used to hear impactful sentences about money that I blame in part for some of my own problems with money. My mother used to say:

  • Money doesn’t grow on trees.
  • I don’t have any money. Go ask your daddy.
  • You need to work a lot to understand how hard it is hard to make 20 reais.

After I grew up, I realized that money could set me free. If I had enough money, I could choose how I wanted like to work, live, and take the trips that are my dreams since I was a little kid. I focus on changing my mental image of money, so I start to study. I took some classes, read books, and always shared the knowledge I was developing.

If you are curious about this topic and would like to read my articles, take a look at my personal blog:

When we think about money, it’s more about unlearning than learning. Demystifying things about business knowledge, money management, and investment strategies is necessary. I often hear that these essential areas were just for rich people, however, these are some of the secrets to achieving financial sustainability!

I don’t want to work like crazy every single day of my life, but I want to have the power to choose what makes sense for me, live deeply, be conscious, and develop myself to be what God created me to be in my potential.

As Herv Eker says, the world has four areas: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Most people never realizethat the physical realm is merely a “printout” of the other three. So I would like to ask:

“How can we improve our mental, emotional, and spiritual lives?”

1. Declaration

“Declarations not only send a specific message to the universe they also send a powerful message to your subconscious mind.”

By definition, a declaration is a formal statement of energy into the universe and throughout your body. It’s you making a commitment to yourself and asking God’s help to make it true. Who you are today consists of a combination of your thoughts, feelings, and actions from the past, so try to use Verbal Programming to create the life that you would love to live.

For example, you can say: “My inner world creates my outer world.”

2. Motivation

“Your subconscious conditioning determines your thinking. Your thinking determines your decisions, and your decisions determine your actions, which eventually determine your outcomes.” (T. Harv. Eker)

Motivation is the key to transforming our lives. On one hand, If you believe you don’t deserve something, you will validate this belief and create the reality that you aren’t enough. On the other hand, if you believe you are blessed, your mind will validate this belief and create abundance. Day by day our thoughts are creating our way of living.

Observe your thoughts: your fears, beliefs, habits, actions, and even your inactions. Put yourself under a microscope and study all of you! In this way, you will live by your own choices and not just the consequences of external reality. Start to observe your thoughts and entertain only those that empower you!

3. The elements to reprogramme your mind

“No amount of money can ever make you good enough. Money can’t make you something you already are.” (T. Harv. Eker)

There are four key elements of change, each of which is essential in reprogramming your mind. They are suuuper simple but profoundly powerful! Take a look below:

  • Awareness: you can’t change something unless you know it exists.
  • Understanding: by understanding where your “way of thinking” originates, you can recognize that it has to come from outside you.
  • Disassociation: once you realize this way of thinking isn’t you, you can separate yourself from it and choose in the present whether to keep it or let it go — based on who you are today, and where you want to be tomorrow.
  • Reconditioning: here you need to create mental files that generate wealth. We will go deeper into this topic in Part II of this article :)

Dear reader, I hope this thought helps you. Reflect on this material, review the points, and remember what the author says: “don’t believe any word that I say, prove it!” I am sure that this is just the beginning to change your life ❤
